Erin Petrella holds a B.A. in Music with an emphasis in Composition and Arranging (Piano) from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. She has studied piano with Denise Mathias, Dr. Donald Zent, and Yvonne Jenkins, composition with Dr. Ron Holz and Dr. Vicki Bell, and organ with Mark Mathias and Rebecca Kleintop Lepore. While attending Asbury, Erin was a scholarship accompanist. In spring 2004, she was awarded the Era Wilder Peniston Honors Award in Composition and the Kentucky Music Educator’s Collegiate Composition Award.
Erin has years of piano teaching experience to various ages and levels, children through adult, in addition to being a freelance accompanist to vocalists, instrumentalists, and choral groups. She successfully passed the Grade 10 Practical Piano Exam through Royal Conservatory of Music while living in Canada and also holds the Service Playing Certificate from the American Guild of Organists. She is a freelance church musician and has served as Organist / Director of Music in Lutheran, Episcopal, and Moravian churches in addition to service playing experiences in various other denominations.
Erin’s memberships include Frederick County Music Teachers Association, one of the affiliates of Maryland State Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association, and the Central Maryland and Baltimore Chapters of the American Guild of Organists.
